The Evolution of a Case Study

The Silicon Valley firm came to us knowing they had lost control of the company’s Web site. Instead of being a 21st century asset - their Internet presence had become incorrigible: · It took weeks to update any content on the site and when changes were made the site usually crashed · The client could not find products pictures and copy blocks · Press releases were in disorder · End-users complained they could not find the information they needed on the Web site.

Tjis picturte is a place holder.

Management’s initial presumption was to simply "fix" the problems by creating a new Web site. Ten years ago they would have been correct. An in-depth analysis, however, revealed more problems that were not as obvious. · Need for a fresh, organized look and feel for the website · Little traffic on the Web site · The client and their partners needed tools to help sell the product.
As the client understood its problems better - new and more sophisticated solutions began to make sense. Instead of a necessary "fix" it became an opportunity to implement new marketing strategies and control administrative workloads.

Our recommendations added value to the project in unanticipated areas:

  1. Updated corporate brand and Web site graphics
  2. Redesigned the User Experience
  3. Organized and cataloged all graphic images
  4. Organized and cataloged all the current Web site assets with an ongoing plan to ensure consistence
  5. Implemented a content management system for the Web site which was also central asset repository
  6. Implemented a dynamic Web site that can be updated by time of day, etc.
  7. Refreshed the corporate brand and the look and feel of the Web site
  8. Rebuilt the site architecture based on what is important to the end-user
  9. Designed an interactive marketing program that included online marketing
  10. Implemented the latest white papers and sales presentations on a private Web site so that the clients partners could access them from anywhere at anytime

Understanding problems is difficult. Identifying solutions is critical. Success in business is evolution.
